Safe, Comfortable and Stress-Free Stays
What is Home Dog Boarding?
Many dogs feel stressed in kennels due to unfamiliar environments, loud noises, and other animals. This can lead to anxiety when their owners are away. In contrast, home boarding offers a calmer, personalised alternative, allowing dogs to feel safe and secure. With dedicated attention from a caregiver, dogs can enjoy a tranquil experience, maintain their routines, and stay comfortable in a familiar setting.
Instead of kennels, your dog will:
- Stay in our home
- Follow a natural daily routine
- Receive personalised care and attention
- Enjoy a relaxing family atmosphere
It’s the closest experience to being at home.
Stay Connected While You're Away
We understand how crucial reassurance is in fostering trust and confidence. That’s why we commit to providing you with regular updates and photos, ensuring you are always informed. Whether you prefer emails, text messages, or another method of communication, we will tailor our updates to suit your preferences, keeping you closely connected every step of the way.
Your peace of mind is our top priority, and we are here to support you. We will update you on either.
Whatever your preference.

Why Choose Highworth Pet Care?
With 15 Years of Expertise
We are proud to announce that we are officially approved by the Swindon Borough Council. This endorsement reflects our commitment to meeting the high standards and regulations set forth by the council, ensuring that we operate with integrity and serve our community effectively
Small, carefully managed numbers
At Highworth Pet Care, we limit the number of pets in our care to provide each dog with the attention and companionship they deserve. Smaller groups create a calmer environment, safer interactions, and allow for tailored care, including extra playtime, quiet rest, or one-on-one support for pets needing reassurance.
Personalised care for every dog
Your dog thrives on attention that suits their personality. Understanding these needs creates a nurturing environment where they feel loved. Recognizing their preferences strengthens our bond and boosts their happiness. Personalised attention through play, training, or quiet time ensures they get the care they need.
Daily Updates for Your Peace of Mind
Enjoy a selection of photos and videos of your dog, allowing you to see for yourself that your dog is content and well cared for. This way, you can take comfort in knowing that your loyal friend is not only in safe hands but is also enjoying their time while you’re away. With these delightful updates, you can feel connected to your pet and reassured about their well-being.
Professional, Comprehensive Care
As a licensed Boarder, we monitor and document your dog's health daily. I assess their physical condition, mood, and behaviour, making prompt adjustments to care if we notice any concerns. We believe attentive care is essential to your pet's happiness and to creating a nurturing environment where they can thrive.
True home from home environment
We believe pets are happiest as part of a family. That’s why our care resembles a home environment, not a kennel. Dogs enjoy comfortable surroundings, familiar routines, and affection. From daily walks to cuddles on the sofa, we ensure every pet feels secure and loved while you’re away.

Home Dog Boarding FAQs
Everything You Need to Know About Your Dog’s Stay at Highworth Pet Care
Do you really need a licence to Home Board Dogs?
Yes! IN ALMOST ALL CIRCUMSTANCES you do!
Licenses are granted by Swindon Borough Council following an inspection to ensure the accommodation is suitable, and the licence holder has the appropriate experience and emergency procedures in place to protect dogs .
Sadly, there are still many businesses boarding without a licence, and I urge you to always check for yourself, as a lack of one is likely to invalidate any insurance held, and potentially put your dog at risk. If someone can’t show you a licence, they don’t have one.
A licensed Home Boarder HAS to display their licence permanently in a forward facing, position. Mine is in the hallway as you enter the house
How many dogs do you board together?
We are allowed to board up to 4 dogs in addition to our 2 resident dogs. Typically, we rarely board more than 2-3.
Can my Dog have a trial stay?
Absolutely! All new dogs come for a trial stay lasting 24 hours, and if necessary, more than 1. We want you to go away on holiday with confidence, knowing your dog is happy in our care.undergo a 24-hour trial stay, and, if necessary, a longer one
Do you use dog crates?
We only use crates for dogs that use them at home. Licensing rules stipulate that dogs may only be housed in closed crates for a maximum of 3 hours a day. Crate doors must be left open at night to give dogs a choice about where they wish to sleep
Where will my dog sleep?
This really depends on where your dog sleeps at home! We ask you to be honest. If your dog sleeps on your bed, they probably won’t settle downstairs here. Some dogs sleep in our bedroom, or a room next door. We try very hard to accommodate such requests.
Dogs are always separated when left alone.
What vaccinations does my dog need to have ?
All dogs must be vaccinated against:
• Distemper
• Hepatitis
• Canine Parvovirus
• Leptospirosis
Kennel Cough is optional, and we will discuss this with you.
We are required to see your Vaccination Certificate prior to boarding to meet licensing rules.
Will my dog have company all the time?
No, we don’t leave dogs alone much, but reserve the right to leave dogs up to 3 hours in any one 24-hourhour period if necessary, and we are very happy to discuss this with you.
Do you accept dogs with separation anxiety?
No, I’m sorry, we don’t. If your dog can’t be left for a couple of hours without becoming distressed, we aren’t the right choice for you.
What happens after I contact you?
I will talk with you initially to gain some information about your dog and their habits and needs.
The next step is to meet for a walk and for you to visit our home. If this all goes well, we will book your dog in for a trial stay when we don’t have any other dogs boarding.
After a successful trial, we can then accept your booking
